Hungary to Engage American Nuclear Fuel in Partnership with the US

Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto has announced that Budapest and Washington have reached an agreement to expand cooperation in the field of nuclear energy.

"We will sign an important intergovernmental agreement on cooperation in nuclear energy with my counterpart, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio. Hungary will purchase American nuclear fuel," said Szijjarto.

According to him, the document also includes the investment of American technologies that will ensure the safe storage of used nuclear fuel at the Paks Nuclear Power Plant. Additionally, it is planned to construct small modular reactors to enhance the efficiency of the energy system.
