Father of Draftee Charged with Assisting in Evasion of Military Service Through Deception
In a case being investigated by the Military Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee, information has emerged that during the summer draft of 2021, the father of a draftee, along with a group of individuals, assisted his son in attempting to evade mandatory military service through simulated illness and other forms of deception.
According to the investigative body, the attempt was unsuccessful as the Central Medical Commission of the RA Ministry of Defense deemed the draftee fit for service, and he proceeded to mandatory military service.
During the preliminary investigation, public criminal prosecution has been initiated against six individuals under the first and second parts of points 1 and 2 of Article 46-44-461 of the RA Criminal Code for assisting in the attempt to evade mandatory military or alternative service.
The criminal proceedings have been submitted to the supervising prosecutor with a recommendation for approval and presentation to the court.
