7 EU Countries Seek Tariffs on Goods Imported from Russia
Seven member states of the European Union have called on the European Commission to impose tariffs on Russian goods, from which export revenues are expected to amount to €5.4 billion in 2024, according to Politico.
“The seven EU countries—Estonia, Finland, Germany, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, and Sweden—have proposed to the European Commission to set tariffs on Russian products, which are projected to generate €5.4 billion in export revenue in 2024,” the publication stated.
At the end of September, Donald Trump announced at the United Nations General Assembly in New York that the United States was ready to implement a significant package of tariffs against Russia if the European Union did the same. Trump had previously indicated his intention to impose 100% secondary tariffs on Russia in July.
