10 kg of Drugs: Foreign Nationals Arrested for Smuggling in Armenia

On October 9, 2025, the National Security Service of Armenia received information regarding a foreign citizen planning to smuggle and sell 10 kg of marijuana in Armenia for $50,000. This was reported by the Investigative Committee.

During the pre-investigation phase, extensive operational measures carried out by the NSS and the Investigative Committee revealed that on October 28, two foreign citizens illegally crossed the state border of Armenia, transporting approximately 7.5 kg of marijuana for sale. They were arrested on the same day.

Additionally, the investigation found that one of the foreigners, who had previously been imprisoned for illegal border crossing, had unlawfully crossed the state border of Armenia again in April 2025 after serving his sentence.

Public criminal prosecution has been initiated against the foreign nationals based on Articles 393, 399, and 469 of the Criminal Code of Armenia, which pertain to drug smuggling in particularly large quantities and illegal border crossing. As a preventive measure, they have been detained. The pre-investigation of the criminal case is ongoing.
