A 'Debosh' Occurred Between Andranik Kocharian and Hayk Sargsyan: 'Hraparak'
According to the newspaper 'Hraparak', a 'debosh' occurred yesterday between the chairman of the Defense Committee, Andranik Kocharian, and member Hayk Sargsyan during the discussion of the draft law on the state budget for 2026.
During a closed session that also included Director of the National Security Service Andranik Simonian, Minister of Defense Suren Papikyan, Minister of High-Tech Industry Mikayel Hayrapetyan, and other government members, tensions escalated when Sargsyan resisted and refused to comply with Kocharian's demand to remove his laptop.
Kocharian stated that if phones are collected and placed in a special unclassified device, then by the same logic, a laptop should not be in the room as well. However, Sargsyan countered, even trying to reprimand Kocharian by invoking Prime Minister Pashinyan, saying that he takes his laptop to meetings with the Prime Minister as well.
However, the chair of the session remained adamant and insisted on his demand. Mikayel Hayrapetyan intervened, joining Kocharian's request, after which Sargsyan finally left the room and returned without his laptop.
In the ruling party, it is said that the relationship between these individuals is tense. Hayk Sargsyan believes that Kocharian has influenced the ruling team in such a way that they reject his draft law concerning military service, specifically regarding short-term service. The MP has recently attempted to reintroduce a slightly modified version of that draft, but it was resisted again within the ruling party.
Sargsyan has asked Papikyan to present it to Pashinyan, and he is now awaiting a response.
