Belarus May Deploy Troops to Ukraine
Belarusian peacekeepers will be ready to be deployed in Ukraine if necessary and if a corresponding decision is made by Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko. This was stated by Alexey Skobey, head of the International Military Cooperation and Peacekeeping Operations Department of the Special Operations Forces Command of the Belarusian Armed Forces, in an interview with STV channel.
"Here, everything depends on how the parties make decisions among themselves. We are always ready to provide assistance—again at the request of both parties. In any case, one side or the other must connect with that organization if they want it to be under the UN's auspices and declare the need for peacekeeping forces to be deployed in the area," Skobey said in response to a question about whether Belarusian peacekeepers could assist in Ukraine.
