935 Public Transport Users Fined
During the past week, a total of 935 individuals using public transport have been fined. This was reported by Avet Babayan, the acting head of the Public Order Protection Service of the Yerevan Mayor's Office, during a regulatory council meeting in Yerevan.
“Out of these, 673 were fined for traveling without a ticket, 89 individuals used tickets issued under someone else’s authorization, and 173 had payment means but did not validate them,” he detailed.
According to Babayan, there have been 100 requests for the cancellation of fines, of which only 11 were granted, as the others did not provide adequate legal justification. “In the case of 11, there were issues related to the payment validator, and the 'Yerevan City Management Technologies Center' LLC provided clarifications,” Babayan continued.
It is noteworthy that from July 14, a decision came into force imposing fines ranging from 3,000 to 15,000 AMD for violations of public transport payment procedures. During a regulatory council meeting at the Yerevan Mayor's Office on July 28, Deputy Mayor Suren Grigoryan announced that the programming work for the new passenger monitoring system in public transport would be completed this week, followed by training for employees of the Public Order Protection Service.
