From Taxi Driver to Special Forces Officer: Who Stormed the Louvre Museum
The Anti-Terrorism Bureau has arrested seven suspects in connection with the robbery at the Louvre Museum in Paris, according to Le Figaro. Among those apprehended are an immigrant, a taxi driver, and a special forces officer.
The first two individuals arrested are men aged 34 and 39, residents of the Seine-Saint-Denis department. They are suspected of storming the Apollo Gallery and stealing museum exhibits. Both are currently in pre-trial detention.
The 34-year-old man, an Algerian citizen, resided in Aubervilliers. He told investigators that he worked as a delivery driver and had previously been convicted of violations of traffic regulations and theft. The other man was a former taxi driver without a license. According to the Paris prosecutor, the suspect was under judicial control in relation to a serious robbery case, the trial of which is scheduled for November 2026.
It is worth noting that the theft occurred on the morning of October 19, when thieves entered the Apollo Gallery and stole nine pieces of jewelry.
