Garnik Cholakyan Becomes Champion at European U23 Championships

The European Youth and U23 Championships are ongoing in Durres, Albania. Garnik Cholakyan, a member of the Armenian national team competing in the 60 kg weight category, achieved a remarkable feat in the snatch event, successfully lifting 115 kg and 120 kg overhead. This performance earned him the gold medal in the event.

In the clean and jerk, Cholakyan continued his dominance by lifting 140 kg, 145 kg, and finally 147 kg. With a total lift of 267 kg in the combined event, Garnik Cholakyan claimed the title of European U23 Champion.

Another member of the Armenian team, Seyran Khudanyan (60 kg), also competed fiercely, lifting 110 kg and 115 kg in the snatch event to secure a second-place finish. However, in the clean and jerk, Khudanyan managed to lift only 135 kg, bringing his total to 250 kg, which placed him 5th in the European U23 Championships.
