Russia Developing Powerful New Weapon, Says State Duma Member
Andrey Kolesnik, a member of the Defense Committee of the State Duma of Russia, has announced that Russia is working on the creation of a new type of weapon that will be "more terrifying and powerful" than the already tested "Burevestnik" missile.
Kolesnik stated that Russia has likely already developed a system that is "even more invulnerable and invisible" to the enemy than the "Burevestnik". "Adversaries will only see the missile when it is already delivering a devastating strike," the parliamentarian noted, adding that Russia is several years ahead of "all existing countries' armaments".
On October 26, Russian President Vladimir Putin received a report from Chief of the General Staff Valery Gerasimov regarding the successful testing of the "Burevestnik" cruise missile. This missile is distinguished by its unlimited range and nuclear propulsion system, allowing it to evade existing air defense systems.
According to Gerasimov, during the tests, the missile flew approximately 14,000 kilometers and remained airborne for 15 hours, successfully demonstrating its technical advantages. Vladimir Putin has instructed the start of preparatory work for the integration of the "Burevestnik" system into the Russian armed forces.
Earlier, members of the Federation Council of Russia commented on how the West should respond to the launch of the "Burevestnik", noting that this program indicates the enhancement of Russia's defensive capabilities.
