Russia Ready to Restore Cultural Ties with Azerbaijan

Russia is ready to restore humanitarian and cultural cooperation with Azerbaijan, to the extent that Baku is prepared to do so. This was stated in an interview with RIA Novosti by Mikhail Shvydkoy, the special representative of the Russian President for International Cultural Cooperation.

"We have always said that Russia is ready for everything our partners are ready for. If our Azerbaijani friends and partners are prepared to return to the establishment of humanitarian, scientific, educational, and cultural ties, we are also fully ready," he said.

Shvydkoy emphasized that the two peoples are united by a centuries-old history, family ties, and shared values, which are the foundation for the societies of both countries. He noted that today there are "no deep-rooted reasons" that could thwart the full restoration of relations.

It is worth noting that on October 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin had a phone conversation with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, discussing the course of bilateral relations.

Recall that in June of this year, the Azerbaijani Ministry of Culture announced the cancellation of all cultural events planned with the participation of Russian state and private entities, including concerts, festivals, performances, and exhibitions.
