Svetlana Tikhanovskaya Cancels Visit to Armenia

The Belarusian opposition figure Svetlana Tikhanovskaya has canceled her visit to Armenia. This was reported by the Lithuanian news portal 15min.

The reason for the cancellation was that Lithuania had refused to provide at least one accompanying security personnel for her during an international event in Armenia.

The Lithuanian diplomatic service assured that the changes in Lithuania's security system are of a technical nature and not a political decision. The government insists that by law, Lithuanian official guests are protected only within Lithuania’s territory.

Tikhanovskaya's advisor, Denis Kuchinsky, stated that his team had requested personal security for her visit to Yerevan due to high security risks and had offered to pay for it, but received a refusal.

He added that he would not criticize Lithuania's decision, expressing gratitude to the Lithuanian authorities for their assistance.
