Hungary Receives Warning Notification from Russia

Hungary has received a notification from Russia stating that if its assets in the West are seized, it will take retaliatory measures, taking into account the position of each country. This was announced by Hungary's Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Peter Szijjarto, who participated in an EU council meeting in Luxembourg.

He noted that among other topics discussed at the meeting was the possibility of using frozen Russian financial assets in the West for the benefit of Ukraine.

“It is clear that measures will be taken to use the so-called frozen Russian assets. Of course, we have consulted with the Russians on this issue, and they have responded that if such a decision is made, they will take retaliatory measures considering the situation created in each EU member state. This once again highlights the extreme risks of accessing frozen Russian assets in the European Union,” said the foreign minister in an interview with Hungarian journalists in Luxembourg, which was broadcast on M1 television.
