For the First Time in 500 Years, the King of Great Britain and the Pope of Rome Will Pray Together

King Charles III of Great Britain and Pope Leo XIV will become the first British monarch and pope to pray together at a church service since the Reformation in the 16th century.

This historic moment will take place in the Sistine Chapel in Vatican City during the state visit of King Charles and Queen Camilla.

During the service, clergy and choirs from the Roman Catholic Church and the Anglican Church will participate, with the king serving as the Supreme Governor of the Anglican Church.

The visit is expected to be seen as an important symbol of reconciliation, during which King Charles III and the Pope will meet for the first time.
