Karapetyan's Defense Team Concludes Presentation of Arguments: Vardevanyan
The defense team of businessman Samvel Karapetyan has completed its presentation of arguments. This was announced by Aram Vardevanyan from the defense team near the anti-corruption court.
The anti-corruption court, presided over by VaheDolmazyan, is on its second day of reviewing the request for the extension of Samvel Karapetyan’s detention.
“If we have a reasonable opportunity for real law and justice, it is clear that this motion should be rejected. Our expectations are quite low; we do not want 100 percent legal brilliance, because it would be naïve to think we can achieve that in the current conditions,” said Vardevanyan.
According to him, even 5-10 percent legal reasoning is sufficient for the motion to be rejected.
Vardevanyan added that we are now at the stage where the court should pose questions to the defense team. Following that, the court will retire to the consultation room to make a decision.
It’s noteworthy that a search was conducted at Samvel Karapetyan's residence on June 17, after he publicly expressed support for the Armenian Apostolic Church, emphasizing that a small group has attacked the Armenian Church and the Armenian people, forgetting the history of the Armenians and the thousands of years of the church's existence. Karapetyan was detained for two months on June 18. On August 15, Anti-Corruption Court Judge Tigran Davtyan extended Samvel Karapetyan's detention for another two months.
