UN Reports Cost of Gaza Reconstruction

The United Nations has estimated the cost of reconstructing Gaza at $70 billion. This information has been reported by various media outlets.

According to a rapid assessment of damage and needs conducted jointly by the UN, the European Union, and the World Bank, approximately $70 billion will be required for the reconstruction of Gaza, said Jaco Siliers, special representative of the UN Development Programme (UNDP) for assistance to the Palestinian people.

Siliers refrained from estimating the timelines for the completion of reconstruction efforts in the Palestinian enclave and admitted that "not all areas will be restored."
