Erdogan Can Help End Russia's War Against Ukraine, Trump Says

U.S. President Donald Trump has stated that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan could assist in ending Russia's war against Ukraine.

The head of state made the remarks during a press briefing on Air Force One, used on his return to Washington after a visit to the Middle East. Journalists asked him whether the Turkish leader could help resolve the conflict between Russia and Ukraine.

“Yes, Erdogan can. Russia respects him. I can’t speak for Ukraine, but Putin respects him. And he is my friend. You know, you can understand why. I get along well with strong people. I don’t deal with weak people. I get along well with strong people. I don’t know why,” Trump said.

He also added that the Turkish president has a good relationship with him. “You know, when NATO has issues with Erdogan, which happens often, they call me and ask me to speak to Erdogan. And I have never failed. Everything gets resolved literally immediately,” the president stated.
