Armenian Assembly Calls on Trump to Secure Release of Armenian Hostages Held in Baku

In a statement regarding the conclusion of the Gaza war and the return of Israeli hostages, President Donald Trump announced, "the end of an era of terrorism and death and the beginning of an era of faith, hope, and God," according to the Armenian Assembly of America.

The organization emphasized that, besides this historic event promoting peace in the region, President Trump is also focusing on resolving long-standing conflicts between countries, including Armenia and Azerbaijan. During Trump’s meeting with the leaders of Armenia and Azerbaijan and at the signing of a framework peace agreement at the White House on August 8, the President promised to discuss the matter of hostages with the Azerbaijani President.

In a conversation with the Armenian Prime Minister, Trump noted that Baku holds Armenian hostages: "So, you mentioned that there are 23 Christians whom you would like to see released, right? That's 23, isn’t it? Because I will be asking him to do that. I think he will do it for me as well," Trump said.

The Armenian Assembly calls on President Trump to ensure the immediate release of Armenian Christian hostages held in Baku, just as he demonstrated success in releasing hostages held by Hamas in Gaza.

"Real peace cannot be achieved as long as hostages are unjustly held in Baku. Seeing this much devastation, we pray for the ultimate cessation of hostilities and the establishment of lasting peace," said the Co-Chairs of the Armenian Assembly, Oscar Tatosyan and Talin Yakoubian.
