Macron to Make Significant Announcement, Possible National Assembly Dissolution: Le Figaro

French President Emmanuel Macron will make a significant announcement on Wednesday evening. This was reported by Le Figaro, citing sources.

According to the newspaper, the head of state will make this announcement after a 48-hour deadline he set for the resigned Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu to consult with political parties on ways to exit the current crisis.

The publication also does not rule out the possibility of dissolving the National Assembly (the lower chamber of the French Parliament). This speculation is presumably supported by Macron's meetings with Senate Speaker Gérard Larcher and National Assembly President Yaël Braun-Pivet.

Such consultations are provided for under Article 12 of the French Constitution, prior to the dissolution of the lower chamber.
