Law Enforcement Fails to Control Criminal Situation in Parakar Community: New Clash

The newspaper “Zhoghovurd” reports that the law enforcement system in Armenia is effectively unable to manage and suppress the explosive situation that has arisen in the village of Mrdzavan in the consolidated community of Parakar in the Armavir region. The events escalated following the notorious murder on September 23.

According to information received by the newspaper, the close circle of the murdered Valodia Grigoryan is demanding that law enforcement bring back one of the potential organizers of the case, the former village head of Mrdzavan, the young Mher Akhtoyan. Just a few days prior to the murder, V. Grigoryan's alleged suspect, Gevorg Harutyunyan, sent him off from Zvartnots Airport.

Questions remain unanswered: Why did Mher Akhtoyan leave Armenia? Where is he now? And why are law enforcement agencies not taking any actions?

According to the newspaper's sources, eight days after the incident, when Akhtoyan's allies learned that the grave of Narek Ohanian's brother, one of the suspects in Valodia Grigoryan's murder, had been desecrated (the monument was smashed), serious clashes began in the village. Our sources indicate that Akhtoyan’s allies attempted to take revenge by resorting to violence against Grigoryan's supporters. The clash occurred just a few dozen meters away from the police, effectively under their noses.

Meanwhile, law enforcement has been conducting increased surveillance in Mrdzavan for nine days, with even police units stationed in the village overnight. However, despite this, there remains an atmosphere of tension and fear within the village. Residents testify that even in the presence of police, it is impossible to prevent beatings and clashes.

This situation represents a serious blow to the law enforcement system, revealing a reality where the enforcement of the law loses its power, and the community finds itself under semi-anarchic sentiments.
