A large gas field with a volume of 283 billion cubic meters discovered in southern Iran

A significant gas field with a volume of 283 billion cubic meters has been discovered in the Pazan region of Iran's southern Fars province. This was announced by the country’s Minister of Oil, Mohsen Paknejad.

“In the coming years, this field, which contains 10 trillion cubic feet of gas, could play an important role in restoring the country’s energy balance,” the official noted. According to the minister, geological exploration work at the second well of this field, located 21 km away from the city of Jam in Bushehr province along the Persian Gulf coast, had resumed after an eight-year pause.

He mentioned that gas production from the Pazan field could begin in approximately 3.5 years. Paknejad also emphasized that the uniqueness of the field lies in the fact that geological exploration specialists have for the first time uncovered a horizontal layer containing at least 200 million barrels of crude oil, and there is potential for discovering even larger volumes.
