Mystery Surrounding Body Found at the Consulate in St. Petersburg: Joint Investigation Launched
The tragic case of Boris Avagyan, who was found dead in the building of the Armenian consulate in St. Petersburg, has sparked responses from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Investigative Committee of Armenia following inquiries from the newspaper 'Zhoghovurd'.
In response to the newspaper's inquiry, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that a criminal proceeding has been initiated by the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia regarding this incident. However, the ministry did not provide details regarding the basis and timing of the proceedings.
The Investigative Committee has also confirmed that a criminal proceeding has been initiated concerning the individual's death. The lawyer has asserted that Avagyan could not have committed suicide, while Russian media has reported issues relating to debts.
The newspaper has learned that the circumstances of the incident continue to be investigated through cooperation between law enforcement agencies of the Republic of Armenia and the Russian Federation. Nonetheless, the death of Boris Avagyan remains highly mysterious.
It is noteworthy that on September 24, Boris Avagyan, a former representative for special assignments of the President of Artsakh and former deputy mayor of Artik, was found dead at the consulate. Prior to this, Avagyan had released a video stating that he was at the consulate and requested to be extradited to Armenia.
