Anna Grigoryan: The Poor Condition of Law Enforcement Is Involved in the Murder of Volodya Grigoryan
The investigation into the murder of Parakar community leader Volodya Grigoryan must continue and involve a broader scope. This was stated by Anna Grigoryan, a member of the 'Armenia' faction in the National Assembly.
In her opinion, the Investigative Committee of Armenia hastened to suggest an official version that the murder was motivated by personal revenge. However, neither Volodya nor his brother had engaged in any actions that could lead to such a vendetta.
The parliamentarian noted that Volodya Grigoryan's brother, Paykar Grigoryan, is under investigation for hooliganism and has no connection to the bloody events of February. Therefore, according to her, the statement made by the head of the Investigative Committee, Arthur Poghosyan, claiming that the murder has been solved is irresponsible.
She is confident that the investigation should also examine how it happened that ten days before Volodya Grigoryan’s murder, his political opponent Mher Akhtoyan (the former head of the nearby administrative district who lost to Volodya Grigoryan in the March 2025 elections) left the country, and was seen off by the same individual who later committed the murder.
Grigoryan emphasized that the poor condition of the law enforcement system is also a key factor in this situation. Knowing that there were problems in the community, no appropriate actions were taken to prevent the tragedy.
She drew a comparison, stating that the prosecutor demanded 2 years and 6 months of imprisonment for Archbishop Mikael Ajapahyan of Shirak for giving an interview, while the person who committed murder in the Araks community of Armavir region was previously firing shots from an automatic weapon, yet remained free.
