Russian-Azerbaijani Relations Will Change Significantly After the Resolution Process with Armenia
After the resolution of relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia, Russian-Azerbaijani relations will change again. This was stated by political commentator and Russian journalist Alexander Budberg in an interview with the APA agency.
“Of course, there are other issues at the root of the conflict between Russia and Azerbaijan. In my opinion, the main issue is achieving complete peace between Azerbaijan and Armenia, as well as signing an agreement to open a transport corridor in the South Caucasus. If we recall the agreement of November 9, 2020, we will see that it mentioned the opening of the Zangezur corridor, which would be controlled by the border troops of the Russian Federal Security Service. This agreement satisfied all parties. However, despite the fact that almost five years have passed since the signing of the agreement, nothing has been done. Therefore, the leadership of Azerbaijan wishes to take advantage of the changing international situation. The U.S. administration has changed, and the approach of the new administration to various problem-solving, including those present in the South Caucasus, has also changed. In this regard, a request has been sent to the U.S. In my opinion, the Americans have responded positively to that request. Now it is possible to try to open transport corridors and sign a peace treaty between Armenia and Azerbaijan under the auspices of the U.S., rather than Russia,” said Alexander Budberg.
