Bakoyan Comments on Prime Minister's Omission of the Word 'Captive' at the UN

We have captives held in Baku, and regarding their issue, the Prime Minister, the Foreign Minister, as well as the parliament are making utmost efforts to bring them back home, said Rustam Bakoyan, a member of the ruling Civil Contract party, in a meeting with journalists.

When asked why the Prime Minister did not use the word 'captive' at the UN and instead referred to 'individuals in captivity due to a long-standing conflict,' Bakoyan responded, 'I cannot comment on the Prime Minister's statement; he should do that himself. But I can confidently say that in all our meetings with international partners, across all formats and possible avenues, we consistently raise the issue of returning our captives.'

He also mentioned that there are ongoing efforts regarding this matter, the publicizing of which might harm the process. 'These efforts do not stop, they do not depend on us, but we are doing everything possible to ensure the return of our compatriots held in Baku. What you see is just the visible part of the iceberg; there is a vast, enormous amount of work being done that is not visible.'
