Mesrop Arakelyan Comments on Vendetta Theory Regarding Valodia Grigoryan's Murder
Mesrop Arakelyan, the co-founder of the "Country of Living" party, has addressed the vendetta theory being speculated by representatives of the power regarding the murder of Valodia Grigoryan. He emphasizes the following:
“Valodia Grigoryan did not have any personal issues with anyone and during his tenure, he was guided solely by the principle of being 'the mayor for all,' doing his utmost for unity and solidarity. Valodia Grigoryan and his brother have no connection to the incident that occurred in the village of Mrdzavan in February. The illegal detention of Valodia Grigoryan’s brother was a manifestation of political pressure ahead of the March 30 elections, which Valodia Grigoryan officially announced on February 8.
According to the charges presented by the Prosecutor's Office, Valodia Grigoryan's brother is accused purely of hooliganism, having no link to the murder. After the arrest of the perpetrator of the murder incident (the brother of the person killed in February), the Ministry of Internal Affairs exhibited an outrageous unprofessional approach by presenting the murder as a continuation of the February incidents, performing judicial functions. This is an unacceptable manifestation of political assessment by the law enforcement system.
The arrest of the purported murderer the following day evidently indicated that the fabricated vendetta theory has no basis in reality. Reinforcing Valodia Grigoryan's exceptionally honest and proper public behavior, while excluding the presence of interpersonal problems, it is clear that there are organizers and clients involved in his murder case.
We demand that the law enforcement system continue operational work towards the full disclosure of the murder, refraining from giving assessments of what happened, leaving that to the jurisdiction of the court. We will be vigilant in ensuring the complete elucidation of Valodia Grigoryan's murder. All those responsible will receive appropriate punishment from the court,” he wrote.
