After Receiving the People's Mandate Once Again, We Will Initiate a National Referendum: Pashinyan

Since the popular, non-violent Velvet Revolution in 2018, democracy, the rule of law, human rights, and an independent judiciary have been adopted as strategies by our government. This was stated by Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.

“To make what we have in the field of democracy more institutional and people-oriented, we intend to take the next step soon—after receiving the people's mandate once again in the 2026 parliamentary elections, we will initiate a national referendum to adopt a new Constitution. As a result, all branches of power and the legal order established in the country will be organically connected with the Constitution—that is, with the people—making the statehood of Armenia enduring and people-centered,” Pashinyan stated.
