Justice Minister on the Murder of Parakar Leader Volodya Grigoryan

The Minister of Justice, Surbhi Galoyan, did not participate in the discussion that took place in the government concerning the tragic incident in Armavir. “I did not participate in such discussions, but the Ministry of Internal Affairs has begun active work to eventually understand what happened,” she said in a conversation with reporters.

Galoyan urged to wait for results as long as necessary. When asked if the tragedy could have been prevented had the law enforcement system been functioning properly, she stated that the preliminary investigation would provide the answer to that question. “Perhaps it could have been prevented, perhaps it could not. Unfortunately, we do not live in an ideal world; criminal acts occur in our country, and the state cannot prevent all offenses, which is true all over the world, not just in Armenia,” Galoyan added.

It is reminded that on September 23, at 23:52, a call was received at the police station of the Ministry of Internal Affairs reporting gunshots in the Yerevani highway of the village of Mrdzavan in the Armavir region. One of the deceased is Volodya Grigoryan, the head of the Parakar community, and the second victim is criminal police officer Karen Abrahamyan. The spokesman for the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Narek Sargsyan, reported that the officer was not on duty; he was simply with Volodya Grigoryan at that moment and had a friendly relationship with him. A criminal case has been initiated regarding the shootings and murders in Mrdzavan. It should be noted that a third person who was with them was also injured and underwent surgery, but their life is not in danger.
