There Were So Many People Standing Next to Me. Nikol Worked Well Too: Levon Ter-Petrosyan
Others have said that Pashinyan is my spiritual successor, have I ever said such a thing? The first President of Armenia, Levon Ter-Petrosyan, stated this during a conversation with journalists today, on September 24, at the Matenadaran.
In response to a reminder that he stood next to Pashinyan in 2008, the first president remarked, “There were so many people standing next to me. At that time, everyone worked very well, including Nikol.”
Regarding his assessment of the revolution that took place in 2018, Levon Ter-Petrosyan said, “How do you evaluate a flood? It was such a storm, the person succeeded. Whatever goal he set, he achieved it. That should be evaluated.”
Addressing the thesis of a compromise for resolving the Nagorno-Karabakh issue, he stated, “He destroyed those theses by declaring in Stepanakert that Artsakh is Armenia, and that was it, leading to war.” He termed the claim that Nikol Pashinyan is advancing with his peace agenda as false. “There is absolutely no connection between my political stance on Nagorno-Karabakh and his political stance. There is absolutely no connection.”
