Mikael Srbazian Will Be Held in Custody Until Elections: Ara Zohrapyan

Mikael Srbazian’s conviction was predicted not by me, but by the actions of the judge. This was stated by Ara Zohrapyan, one of Mikael Srbazian's lawyers, during a conversation with reporters in front of the court today.

“We have seen publicly how the judge makes gross errors and how he is striving to bring the case to this logical conclusion. Next Monday, there will be additional court hearings where the issue of imposing a punishment will be discussed. Here, the prosecutor must present petitions regarding the type and degree of the punishment. We anticipate that they will request a sentence involving imprisonment, and the court will impose a sentence such that Mikael Srbazian will be kept behind bars until the elections. This is clear as day, I believe,” he said.

If a person has not called for actions and they say, ‘you have made a criminally prohibited call,’ a call can only be made in the present or the future. You cannot make a call in the past. And Srbazian spoke about the past. In this case, when an obviously innocent person is recognized as guilty, one cannot expect justice from this judge. When the judge started speaking in a shaky voice, it became clear that an accusatory verdict would be rendered,” Zohrapyan added.
