Former Official of Artsakh Found Dead at Armenian Consulate in Russia
In St. Petersburg, Boris Avagyan, a former official from Artsakh who had fled, was found dead in the building of the Armenian consulate. This was reported by the Telegram channel Mash.
Avagyan was discovered unconscious in a restroom where he had reportedly been for about 50 minutes. It is recalled that on September 23, a court in St. Petersburg was set to decide on Avagyan's detention measure. However, prior to the hearing, he allegedly requested to step outside for a smoke and then attempted to flee.
Later, it was revealed that he was hiding in the Armenian consulate in St. Petersburg. Since the consulate is considered the territory of a foreign state, Russian law enforcement cannot enter without diplomatic consent.
According to reports, Boris Avagyan, who served as a special representative for the President of Artsakh, is accused of evading customs duties, resulting in damages exceeding 4.2 billion rubles.
