Resumption of Sanctions Against Iran is a Pretext, Says Iranian Foreign Ministry
Ofelya
The calls from Europe to resume sanctions against Iran are a pretext for escalation and are strategically misguided, said Saeed Khatibzadeh, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic. According to him, these European calls for sanctions are a new excuse for escalating international relations.
“What the Europeans are doing is politically motivated, illegitimate according to international law, and strategically wrong,” Khatibzadeh stated. He added that by attempting to restore sanctions against Iran, “the Europeans will bring international relations to a new level of unpredictability.”
