Kremlin Comments on Trump’s Words That Putin Has ‘Disappointed’ Him
U.S. President Donald Trump continues to make efforts to resolve the Ukrainian crisis, and his attitude towards this situation is generally understandable. This was stated by Russian Presidential Spokesman Dmitry Peskov in response to a TASS inquiry, commenting on the U.S. president's statement that Vladimir Putin has ‘disappointed’ him in the context of the Ukrainian settlement.
During a joint press conference in London with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, Trump said, “I thought everything would be easy because of my relationship with President Putin. But he has disappointed me. He really has disappointed me. But we will see how it all ends.”
Peskov noted that the United States and President Trump personally maintain their political will and intention to continue efforts to contribute to the Ukrainian settlement. “For that reason, of course, President Trump is quite emotional about this topic. This is absolutely understandable,” he said.
The Kremlin representative emphasized that Putin has maintained the willingness to resolve the situation through political-diplomatic means and is doing everything possible in that direction, while “Kyiv and EU countries” are obstructing the resolution of the conflict.
Previously, Trump expressed confidence that the ongoing conflict in Ukraine would eventually be resolved. He admitted that he thought the resolution of the Ukrainian crisis would seem straightforward given his good relations with the Russian president, but in reality, achieving that goal has become much more complicated.
