I Was Questioned 1.5 Years Ago in Connection with the ANIF Criminal Case, Says Avinyan
“ANIF had a problem with attracting foreign investments and has attracted $210 million in foreign investments,” he said. According to Avinyan, 800 new jobs have been created during ANIF's activity. “When it is said that ANIF is ineffective, the state has spent 4.19 billion drams on ANIF, but the subsidiary companies created by ANIF have returned 5.5 billion drams to the state in the form of taxes,” Yerevan Mayor Tigran Avinyan said in a conversation with reporters.
He also noted that he was questioned as a witness in connection with the ANIF criminal case 1.5 years ago and provided the information he had.
The mayor also addressed claims of ANIF's inefficiency made by Vahan Kerobyan: “When I am no longer the chairman of the council, I do not deal with ANIF, I am at the city hall as the deputy mayor, I am involved in other processes. The government is initiating a move to transfer the entire package of ANIF to the Ministry of Economy. After transferring it there, significant personnel changes are made, an assistant is appointed to the council, the director is removed, and these personnel changes become a point that leads all participants in the process to refuse to continue their activities.”
