Authorities Are Discarding Armenian Symbols: Seyran Ohanyan
Davit Jalalyan
The authorities are discarding Armenian symbols by removing the image of Mount Ararat from visa stamps, stated Seyran Ohanyan, the head of the opposition ‘Hayastan’ faction in the National Assembly, during a conversation with journalists.
According to him, Ararat holds purely symbolic significance for the Armenian people and does not express any territorial claims against neighboring countries, contrary to what representatives of the ruling party suggest.
“The actions of the Armenian leadership could be part of a consistent policy aimed solely at pleasing Ankara. The fight against state symbols poses a long-term threat to Armenian identity,” Ohanyan emphasized.
