US and China Leaders' Meeting May Not Happen: Financial Times

The scheduled meeting between US President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping may not take place, as reported by the Financial Times.

“Defense Secretary Pitt Hegseth and Secretary of State Marco Rubio have been negotiating with their Chinese counterparts, leading to speculation about a meeting between the presidents. However, the absence of progress in US-China trade talks has decreased the likelihood of a summit in Beijing,” the report states.

It is noted that Trump and Jinping could still meet at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit, although this meeting would be less significant.

The main issue is that, according to Washington, China continues to supply the US with chemical substances used in the production of fentanyl. Beijing, on its part, is concerned about the tariffs imposed by the US.
