Kremlin Comments on NATO's Response to Drone Incident
The head of the Crimean parliament, Vladimir Konstantinov, has described the NATO countries' reaction to the drone incident in Poland as a charade for the public. NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte announced that the alliance is launching the "Eastern Vigil" operation, which involves strengthening the defense of the eastern flank in light of the drone incident in Poland.
The Polish military's General Staff reported on Saturday that the implementation of NATO's "Eastern Vigil" operation had begun.
"The NATO Secretary General and a number of Western European leaders are playing for the public, trying to use the drone incident to present Russia as the aggressor, in order to maintain their electoral base, mobilize people, and justify many of their actions," Konstantinov told RIA Novosti.
In his opinion, the drone incident could be a deliberate provocation by the West to justify the continued allocation of resources for military conflict near Russia's borders, as well as sending troops and new batches of weapons to Ukraine. "We understand which way the wind blows," the parliament leader emphasized.
Poland's Prime Minister Donald Tusk had previously announced that drones had been shot down on Polish territory, confirming that they were Russian.
