Turkey Is Not Rushing to Establish Diplomatic Relations, Abrahamyan
The official statement regarding the meeting between senior Armenian officials and Turkey's special envoy reflects an imitative process lacking clarity. Tigran Abrahamyan, the secretary of the "I Have Honor" faction, wrote this on his Facebook page.
"It is evident that Turkey is not in a hurry to establish diplomatic relations and ensure mutually beneficial cooperation with Armenia. Even the much-discussed agreement to open the border for citizens of third countries and cargo transportation has not yielded any results for two years. Not to mention that although there is talk of turning Armenian territory into an infrastructural hub, Turkey is clearly dragging its feet on reaching an agreement regarding the resumption of the Gyumri-Kars route. In terms of regional cargo transportation, it prefers to bypass Armenia, opting for a new route from Kars to Igdir to Nakhchivan, which was recently announced rather than considering the Kars-Gyumri-Eraskhavan-Nakhchivan direction," Abrahamyan wrote.
“Turkey and Azerbaijan do not want a strong and developed Armenia; they need a country that will serve their regional interests and will only have the status of a user,” he added.
