Geomagnetic Storms Expected
A massive coronal hole opened in the sun's atmosphere, resembling the shape of a butterfly, is expected to impact Earth in the coming days. According to forecasts from space weather specialists, geomagnetic storms and impressive auroras may occur on September 13-14.
This coronal hole reaches nearly 500,000 kilometers in width and releases high-speed solar wind streams towards Earth. These streams are expected to arrive on September 14. The UK's Met Office predicts a storm activity level of up to G1 (minor), but a G2 (moderate) storm is also possible.
