Finland Faces Serious Negative Consequences Following Breakdown of Economic Ties with Russia
Finland is experiencing serious negative consequences following the breakdown of its economic ties with Russia. This was stated by Finnish Prime Minister Petteri Orpo in an interview with the Yle broadcaster. He was asked about the reasons behind Finland's weak economic growth compared to other European countries.
Orpo cited specific losses, including the cessation of supplies of millions of cubic meters of timber to the forestry industry, the multi-billion dollar losses from investments lost by Finnish companies in Russia, and the complete halt of cross-border trade and transit traffic. He also highlighted the issue of airspace closure, which has significantly increased the logistical costs for airlines.
“All of this impacts the fact that Finland’s economic growth is not reaching the desired level,” the Prime Minister said, noting that these factors create a constant atmosphere of uncertainty that hinders the country’s economic development.
