Officials of the Patrol Service Accused of Vehicle Thefts
Based on materials obtained from the Republic of Armenia's Ministry of Internal Affairs, it has been established through evidentiary and procedural actions initiated by a criminal case that officials of the Patrol Service of the Police of the Republic of Armenia, acting in a group, utilized their influence derived from their official powers, selling vehicle spare parts belonging to a citizen for a total of 350,000 AMD during the years 2024-2025, thereby misappropriating property entrusted to them.
Preliminary investigations have also revealed that the head of the relevant unit of the Patrol Service of the Police in Yerevan, with the assistance of several individuals, sold a “Toyota” vehicle belonging to a citizen in December 2024 for 1,600,000 AMD, incorporating the revenue into his property fund. In this manner, the mentioned official deliberately misappropriated property of particularly large value entrusted to him by utilizing his official powers and influence.
Additionally, this official attempted to sell a moped worth 2,500,000 AMD entrusted to him, preparing to sell it for 70,000 AMD in 2025, but because the sale was not completed, the crime was not executed due to circumstances beyond his control.
During different time periods, the aforementioned official has also sold several other vehicles belonging to citizens, incorporating the profits into his property fund, thereby deliberately misappropriating entrusted property.
The officials of the Patrol Service of the Police of the Republic of Armenia have been charged under points 1 and 2 of part 2, and point 3 of part 3 of Article 256 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia, as well as parts 2 and 3 of Article 44-256 (two episodes) and part 2 of Article 256. Charges have also been brought against two individuals who assisted them. A house arrest measure has been applied to the individual who held the position of the head of the relevant unit of the Patrol Service and another defendant. The preliminary investigation of the criminal case has been completed, and the materials have been sent to the Anti-Corruption Court of the Republic of Armenia with an indictment conclusion.
