Latvia to Close Airspace with Russia and Belarus from Today

Latvia will close its airspace with Russia and Belarus starting today and for at least until September 18, as announced by Latvian Minister of Defense Andris Sprūds. According to the minister, this action is Latvia's response to Russian drones crossing into Polish airspace.

“Russian drones in NATO's airspace are a cause for concern, and we must do everything to prevent escalation of drone attacks,” the minister stated.

This measure will facilitate the identification of unauthorized flying objects and will free the area for NATO fighters and Latvia's air defense systems.
