Armenia's MFA Issues Statement on the Dissolution of the OSCE Minsk Group

The foreign ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan have jointly appealed for the closure of the OSCE Minsk Process structures, as they are deemed "no longer relevant considering the radical changes in the circumstances that led to their establishment." This was reported by the press service of the Armenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in connection with the decision adopted by the OSCE Ministerial Council regarding the Minsk Process and related structures.

This statement was presented today by Armenia's Permanent Representative to the OSCE, Andranik Hovhannisyan, during the 1533rd Permanent Council meeting of the OSCE.

"Armenia and Azerbaijan jointly initiated the adoption of this decision based on a joint appeal from the foreign ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan addressed to the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office, which was signed on August 8, 2025, in Washington, D.C., United States," the statement noted.

Hovhannisyan stated that the document confirms that conditions have been created "for the start of building friendly relations after a conflict that caused unspeakable human suffering, based on the principles of the inviolability of international borders and the inadmissibility of the use of force for territorial acquisition."

"The declaration also affirms that this 'reality, which cannot and should never be subject to revision, paves the way for closing the chapter of enmity between our two peoples.'" The ministers also reaffirmed their "joint commitment to the UN Charter and the Helsinki Final Act to continue the process of regulating relations at the bilateral level," emphasized the Permanent Representative of Armenia to the OSCE.

The representative announced that in the context of this historic moment, the Republic of Armenia expects the reasonable timeframe for signing and ratifying a peace agreement.
