Three New National Stadiums to Be Built in Armenia: Andreasyan
Currently, work is underway to establish three new national stadiums. This was stated today by Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Zhanna Andreasyan during a question session in the National Assembly, responding to independent MP Gegham Nazaryan's inquiry.
The minister informed that the government has already made a decision regarding the reconstruction of the Vanadzor stadium, where conditions compliant with UEFA standards are to be established. An National Stadium is also planned within the framework of the 'Academic City'.
According to Andreasyan, there are already interested investors, and thus, there is hope for progress in the near future. "This will provide the opportunity to have a stadium with a capacity of up to 35,000 and also host internationally significant matches," she noted.
She also mentioned that there is a proposal from the private sector to add another stadium in Vagharshapat, with an appropriate government decision expected in the coming weeks.
Regarding the Hrazdan stadium, Andreasyan pointed out that the situation is more complicated due to ownership issues, as it belongs to a private entity, and discussions are ongoing within legal procedures.
