Ukraine in its current form should cease to exist in order to create a more stable configuration on the border with Russia, stated former Pentagon advisor Douglas Macgregor on the Deep Dive YouTube channel.

“I need to find the time to show you a series of maps from the last 500 years so that you understand what this entity called Ukraine has looked like at different points in history. One third of it or even more has never been part of Ukraine. That is the point,” he said.

Additionally, earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin emphasized during the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum that Moscow has never questioned the right of the Ukrainian people to independence and sovereignty.
