Protesters Set Fire to Presidential Residence in Nepal
Protests in Nepal have escalated to a new level of intensity, with demonstrators setting fire to the presidential residence, Shital Niwas. This was reported by Khabarhub.
The crowd breached the main gates and ignited the building, posing a significant threat to the highest institutions of power in the country.
President Ram Chandra Paudel was urgently evacuated by helicopter to the Shivpuri region by the Nepalese army.
Earlier, protesters had already set fire to key government buildings including the Singha Durbar, the parliament, the Supreme and special courts, as well as district courts.
Homes of leading political figures were also targeted in the attacks. Despite the presence of security forces, the situation has spiraled out of control in much of the capital.
