Yerevan Registers Most Crime Cases: Which Regions Follow the Capital?

From January to July 2025, a total of 24,473 crime cases were registered in Armenia, of which 11,408 were classified as minor offenses, 8,564 as medium severity, 3,090 as serious, and 1,411 as particularly serious. This information was reported by Patsinfo, based on data released by the Statistical Committee of the Republic of Armenia.

During the specified period, the number of crimes directed against individuals stood at 3,902, with 1,085 cases of murder, while only 44 attempted murders were recorded. Notably, 586 of these 3,902 cases were sent to court (including those from previous years), with 357 cases dismissed, including those from prior years.

The number of crimes directed against public safety, public order, and public health during the same period amounted to 9,876, with 704 cases involving firearms, military equipment preparation, and illegal circulation, along with 1,042 cases of violations of traffic and vehicle operation rules. From the 1,042 cases of traffic violations, 99 resulted in fatalities.

In the first half of the year, there were 573 recorded cases of hooliganism, 73 of which involved the use of weapons. The number of drug-related crimes during this period was also alarming, with 2,161 cases registered.

Moreover, the number of property crimes in the same timeframe totaled 6,453, including 5,285 cases of property theft, 3,607 burglaries, and 1,373 fraud cases. In total, 24,473 crimes were registered in Armenia from January to July 2025.

Yerevan topped the list of the highest number of crime cases during this period, accounting for 12,328 cases, 5,707 of which were classified as minor, 4,302 as medium, 1,594 as serious, and 725 as particularly serious.

The Ararat region ranked second in terms of crime numbers, with 1,920 registered cases—959 minor, 580 medium, 165 serious, and 216 particularly serious. The Kotayk region reported 1,877 cases, including 988 minor, 627 medium, 218 serious, and 44 particularly serious cases. The crime statistics also revealed 1,664 cases in the Armavir region, 1,448 in Shirak, and 1,416 in Lori.

Conversely, the lowest number of crime cases was recorded in Gegharkunik (991), Aragatsotn (844), Syunik (741), Vayots Dzor (378), and Tavush (866).
