Hungary Will Not Support Ukraine's EU Accession, Says Szijjártó

The Hungarian Foreign Minister, Péter Szijjártó, has announced that Budapest will not change its position regarding Ukraine's accession to the EU, even if Moscow is not opposed to it. He responded to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky's statement, who found it strange that Hungary is against Kyiv's EU membership, considering that Russia is not openly contesting it.

"Once again, Zelensky is judging by his own standards. Unlike him, Hungary's position is not dictated from abroad. We do not care what Moscow thinks about Ukraine's EU accession," Szijjártó wrote.

According to him, the Hungarian government is guided solely by the opinion of the Hungarian people, who, according to the minister, do not wish to see Ukraine in the EU. "Therefore, regardless of Russia's position, Hungary will not support Ukraine's EU accession," Szijjártó emphasized.
