US Imposes New Sanctions Against Iran

Today, the U.S. Department of the Treasury imposed sanctions on a network of shipping companies and vessels led by Iraqi businessman Walid al-Samarra. This network is involved in the smuggling of Iranian oil under the guise of Iraqi oil.

The network primarily operates by secretly blending Iranian oil with Iraqi oil, which is then deliberately sold as exclusively Iraqi to evade sanctions. This scheme has generated hundreds of millions of dollars in revenue for both the 'Iranian regime' and al-Samarra himself.
