New Law for Foreign Citizens Arriving in Russia from Armenia, Georgia, Azerbaijan and Other Countries
Starting September 1, a trial registration system for foreign citizens arriving in Russia for work will be launched in Moscow and the Moscow region through the "Amina" mobile application. The trial regime is intended to replace the current migration registration procedure. This was reported by the "Interfax" news agency.
According to the announcement published on the website of the Moscow Multinational Migration Center, citizens from Armenia, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Moldova, and Ukraine who arrive in Moscow and the Moscow region for work are required to download the "Amina" mobile application.
The application, as noted in the announcement, "will simplify the registration of foreign citizens, making compliance with migration legislation more convenient for law-abiding foreigners." The "Amina" app will allow users to register at the address of the Multinational Migration Center and remotely notify internal affairs bodies about their place of residence and any changes via the app.
It should be added that foreign citizens themselves must download the app; a valid foreign citizen's card is required for authorization. To obtain this, one must apply to the Multinational Migration Center. The mobile application will provide the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia with geolocation data.
